Mervyn Willis, now in his sixth season as the Theater Program's artistic director, and South African Nigel Maister, embarking on his second year as associate director, lead the program's gathering of international talent, which includes Russian designer Nikita Tkachuk.

NOISES OFF by Michael Frayn

The season begins with Michael Frayn's modern comic farce, Noises Off. A success on Broadway and in London's West End, the play follows the trials and tribulations, on stage and off, of a batch of actors attempting to stage an "impossible play" and take it on tour. Theatrical laughs and mayhem follow, when art and life intertwine and collide. Mervyn Willis will direct. Featured will be sets and costumes by Nikita Tkachuk, lighting by Joel Tishcoff, and sound design by Obadiah Eaves. THE HOUSE OF BERNARDA ALBA by Federico Garcia Lorca translated by Michael Dewell and Carmen Zapata
OPENS: Thursday, Dec. 4 DATES: Dec. 4-7, 11-13 TIMES: All shows are at 8 p.m., except Dec. 7 matinee at 3 p.m.
The House of Bernarda Alba is considered one of the masterpieces of Spanish drama. This production--a tribute to the brief life of the playwright, who was born 100 years ago in 1998--is a tragedy about women imprisoned by family, tradition, and desire. Nigel Maister will direct; the play will feature sets and lighting by Scott A. Perich, costumes by Kristin Loeffler, and an original score and sound design by Obadiah Eaves.
DEATH OF A SALESMAN by Arthur Miller
OPENS: Thursday, Feb. 26 DATES: Feb. 26-28 and March 1, 5-7 TIMES: All shows are at 8 p.m., except March 1 matinee at 3 p.m.
This classic American drama, long considered one of the great plays of the 20th century, has been staged numerous times and adapted into a successful film starring Dustin Hoffman. It is a Pulitzer Prize-winning drama about the frustrations, failures and tragic shortcomings of the American dream. The University's production is directed by Nigel Maister. Production designers are: Kristin Loeffler, sets and costumes; Jeff Croiter, lighting; and Obadiah Eaves, sound.
BEYOND THERAPY by Christopher Durang
OPENS: Thursday, April 23 DATES: April 23-26 and 30, and May 1, 2 TIMES: All shows are at 8 p.m., except April 26 matinee at 3 p.m.
