The pop/rock/folk band Guster will bring its alternative music to the University of Rochester on Friday, Oct. 5, at 8 p.m. in the Alexander Palestra in the Robert B. Goergen Athletic Center on the River Campus.
The group's members—Ryan Miller and Adam Garner on guitars and vocals, and Brian Rosenworcel on percussion—created the band in the early 1990s after becoming friends during freshman orientation at Tufts University. They built a strong local fan base in Boston and have gone on to produce six albums, including Parachute; Goldfly, which won a Boston Music Award; Lost and Gone Forever; Keep it Together; and more recently, Ganging Up on the Sun. The group also added new member Joe Pisapia on guitar, banjo, bass, keyboard, and harmonica.
The Crocs Next Step Campus Tour, sponsored by Spin Magazine, runs 15 dates and also features singer and songwriter Brett Dennen. Dennen's music has been featured on Grey's Anatomy, The Unit, and Scrubs. The pop/folk singer has recently toured with John Mayer on the Continuum tour.
Tickets are $25 bleacher, $27 floor for the general public; $15 bleacher, $17 floor for University of Rochester undergraduates with ID. For the public, tickets go on sale after Sept. 10 at the Common Market in Wilson Commons on the University's River Campus and online at www.choiceticketing.com/rochester. This event is sponsored by University of Rochester Concerts.
