David Bleich, scholar and author, shows urban experiences through a series of photographic images. In an artist statement, Bleich describes his work as "recursive responses to the proliferation of technology and construction found in every city," and as "rearticulations of ordinary memories, feelings, and fantasies that cities have evoked from the city-boy shutterbug."
Bleich has been making photos for more than 30 years. His mural of Manhattan is comprised of 300 frames that are 'remixed" digitally into one photo. Bleich spent 10 years perfecting this photo to its present form.
Bleich received his Ph.D. from New York University and is an English professor at the University of Rochester. He is author of several books, including Readings and Feelings, Subjective Criticism, and Utopia: The Psychology of a Cultural Fantasy.
