"Our missions to learn, grow, and improve the state of entrepreneurship in this area are very similar in focus," said Fred Beer, president and co-CEO of Potential Point LLC and president of EO Western New York (formerly Young Entrepreneurs Organization). "Therefore, it makes sense to team and share opportunities for education, special events, and networking."
The Western New York group of EO includes approximately 22 entrepreneurs from Rochester, Buffalo, and Syracuse. EO has a worldwide membership of 6,500 individuals who are under the age of 50 and have businesses with annual revenues of more than $1 million.
"We thrive on alliances that attract entrepreneurs or people who have that potential to participate in our programs and get to know us," said Duncan Moore, vice provost for entrepreneurship at the University of Rochester and director of the Center for Entrepreneurship. "These are excellent role models for our students and help them to connect to the community and see the value of Rochester as a good place to stay and grow a business."
Beer earned his engineering degree at the University of Rochester in 1995 and credits the University with contributing to his entrepreneurial spirit. The desire to provide similar value to other innovative individuals prompted him to explore opportunities to collaborate with the Center for Entrepreneurship, he said.
Beer's company, Potential Point, helps companies build high-performance work cultures through employee recognition solutions.
