John Zogby, America\'s famed interpreter of public opinion, will give his insights on Barack Obama\'s first 100 days as president at 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, in the Welles-Brown Room of the University of Rochester\'s Rush Rhees Library. It is free and open to the public.
\"John Zogby is America\'s leading pollster and also an incisive political observer,\" said Curt Smith, senior lecturer of English at the University and former speechwriter to President George H. W. Bush. \"Since Franklin Roosevelt, the first 100 days have been a benchmark of each presidency. Zogby will examine Obama\'s: what\'s gone right, what\'s gone wrong, and what lies ahead.\"
Author of the best-selling book The Way We\'ll Be: The Zogby Report on the Transformation of the American Dream (Random House), the popular pollster will address Obama\'s progress in terms of party identity. \"This is a fascinating presidency,\" said Zogby. \"It may also be an historic presidency.\"
The outlook for America looks bright in general. In The Way We\'ll Be, Zogby divides America into four generational groupings as he analyzes American consumer behavior and demographic changes that may alter the future of American life and politics.
Praised by the New York Post as the \"pacesetter in the polling business,\" Zogby is the CEO and president of Zogby International. Located in Utica, N.Y., Zogby International has been tracking, testing and measuring hypotheses and principles on polling and public opinion research since 1984 in North America, Latin America, the Middle East, Asia, and Europe.
A book signing will take place after the talk. This event is sponsored by the English Department.
