TIME, DATE, PLACE: 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 3, at Douglas Dining Center on the River Campus. The procession starts promptly at 7 p.m., and no one will be permitted to enter the dining center until 7:15 p.m. Please make sure to arrive prior to its start.
WHAT: With a resounding trumpet call, the royal procession ushers in the start of the University of Rochester\'s longest-running tradition, the Boar\'s Head Dinner.
Transforming a campus dining center into a 16th-century English court dinner, more than 550 students, faculty, and staff are treated to a holiday feast of turkey, roast pork, apple stuffing, and all the trimmings.
Rochester\'s premier a cappella groups will sing festive tunes including We Wish You A Merry Christmas while serving traditional figgie pudding and the Boar\'s Head Carol when presenting the main course.
In attendance will be President Joel Seligman, Provost Ralph Kuncl, Dean of the College Richard Feldman, and Dean of Students Matt Burns. This year, Vice President and General Secretary Paul Burgett will recite the inspiration for Rochester\'s dinner, \"The Tale of the Boar,\" the story of an Oxford student who stumbled upon a boar, and in self-defense, killed the beast by stuffing the \"dry\" copy of Aristotle\'s text down its throat. In celebration, the tale recounts how fellow students replaced the text with an apple and enjoyed a feast of roast boar.
PARKING: Members of the media may park in the Library Lot.
