Kathleen Mahoney, a doctoral student at the Warner Graduate School of Education and Human Development at the University of Rochester, has received a Spencer Dissertation Fellowship for her research in education.
Mahoney is one of 30 doctoral candidates chosen from among more than 500 applicants. The fellowship provides $15,000 to support the final stages of research and writing of the dissertation.
Mahoney is researching "Catholics and American Higher Education: Charles W. Eliot, Harvard Law School, and the Jesuits."
The Spencer Foundation investigates ways in which education can be improved around the world. The dissertation fellowships aim to renew the educational research community through aid to promising new scholars.
