A cast and crew of students will be staging the First Annual Spanish One-Act Play Festival at the University of Rochester, featuring two works by contemporary Spanish playwright Paloma Pedrero.
Each play, "Resguardo Personal" and "La Llamada de Lauren," focuses on a couple in a troubled relationship and will be presented in Spanish. Pedrero is one of Spain's most-produced women playwrights.
About a dozen students who are taking Spanish courses or are interested in theater production are staging the plays, which will be presented at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 10, Wednesday, Dec. 11, and Thursday, Dec. 12, in the Todd Theatre Lobby on the River Campus. The students are working with Beth Jörgensen, associate professor of Spanish, and Claudia Schaefer, professor of Spanish.
