WHO: Sharon M.K. Kugler, the first woman, first layperson, and first Roman Catholic to be named chaplain at Yale University will deliver the Interfaith Chapel\'s 2011 Beaven Lecture.
TIME, DATE, PLACE: 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, in the Interfaith Chapel, located on the University\'s River Campus.
WHAT: The Beaven Lecture series, which has been presented on and off since it began in 1970, is in memory of the Rev. Robert H. Beaven, who served as University chaplain from 1954 to 1969. On Wednesday, Kugler\'s lecture, titled Blessing the Space between Us: Crossing the Faith Divide, will draw on more than two decades of experience in ministry in higher education, interfaith collaboration, and pastoral ministry. She will speak on the limits and possibilities of building a religiously plural community while engaging in a dialogue with the audience.
ABOUT SHARON M.K. KUGLER: Kugler became the seventh University Chaplain to Yale in 2007. She came to New Haven from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore where she had served as the University Chaplain since 1993. Her main focus at Yale is to further cultivate a chaplaincy for students, faculty, and staff that serves the needs of the diverse religious and spiritual traditions on campus.
She is the past president of both the National Association of College and University Chaplains and the Association of College and University Religious Affairs. She also currently serves on the Executive Committee of the International Association of Chaplains in Higher Education.
