University of Rochester's Landmark to be Recreated with Cake
WHO: Dana Herbert, dessert chef and winner of TLC's "Cake Boss: The Next Great Baker," visits the University of Rochester to demonstrate how to create "pastry art," and will walk the audience through a cake design of Rush Rhees Library.
TIME, DATE, PLACE: 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20, at the Meliora Restaurant (located in the Frederick Douglass Building) on the River Campus.
ABOUT DANA HERBERT: Dana Herbert, owner of Desserts by Dana, located in Bear, Del., has more than a decade's worth of experience as a dessert chef and baker. In 2010, Herbert was chosen to compete on TLC's "Cake Boss: The Next Great Baker" and beat out nine other contestants during eight weeks of challenges that tested their baking abilities, decorating skills, and knowledge of the business.
Herbert has bachelor's degrees from the University of Delaware and Johnson & Wales University. He has worked as in-house pastry chef at a variety of hotels and restaurant in both Pennsylvania and Delaware. His work has been featured on WeTV's "Wedding Cake Wars" and TLC's "Ultimate Cake Off."
