University Policy on Discrimination and Harassment

The Office of University Counsel reminds graduate students that discrimination and harassment based on sex, race, disability, and certain other factors is prohibited by University policy as well as by federal law (Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973). Retaliation against a person for making a complaint is also prohibited.

The complete policy is available on the Web at http://www.rochester.edu/working/hr/policies/pdfpolicies/106.pdf and in hard copy from the Intercessor, the Office of Human Resources, and the Deans\' offices. The full policy defines the prohibited conduct and also describes the procedures for making formal complaints and for seeking informal resolution of issues.

Questions can be addressed to the University\'s Title IX and Section 504 coordinator, Kathleen Sweetland, at 36 Wallis Hall, 275-9125 or ksweet@admin.rochester.edu
