WHO: Jos Truitt, an editor and contributing blogger at Feministing.com, an online community for feminists and their allies, will deliver a lecture in celebration of Women\'s History Month at the University of Rochester.
TIME, DATE, PLACE: 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27, in the Hawkins-Carlson Room in Rush Rhees Library on the River Campus.
WHAT: Sponsored by the Women\'s Caucus at the University of Rochester and the Susan B. Anthony Institute for Gender and Women\'s Studies, Truitt\'s lecture will encourage audience members to bring a gender analysis approach to feminism by taking a critical look at how gender is often missing from feminist thought and politics. Truitt also will discuss how transgender issues are central to feminism and how transgender frames can sharpen feminist analysis. She will explore ways in which gender intersects with other identity categories, as well as the challenges and complexities of navigating both a personal experience approach and broader identity-based critique in the work for gender justice.
TICKETS: Tickets for the lecture are $4 for University undergraduates and $6 for graduate students, faculty, staff, and members of the community.
