The pedestrian walkway through the Residence Quad that links Faculty Road and Fraternity Road will soon be closed to drive- through traffic. Weather permitting, University Facilities will install bollards at the end of the walkway near Faculty Road over Spring Break, March 11-20.
"The walkway never was meant to be a drive-through road," said Donald K. Hess, vice president for administration. "But drivers have been using it to get from one end of campus to another, instead of taking Intercampus Drive. This use poses a safety hazard and noise problem to the many students who live in that confined area. So we are correcting it."
