Richard Pifer has been named director of facilities and services at the University of Rochester.In this role, he oversees a variety of operations, including project planning and management for new construction, facilities maintenance and operations, security services, mail and courier services, and transportation.
"Richard Pifer comes to us with just the right breadth and depth of knowledge---including a commitment to customer relations and staff development, as well as experience at a major medical center---that clearly make him the right person for this important position at Rochester," said Richard P. Miller, Jr., senior vice president and chief operating officer.
Pifer was executive director and chief of staff for the Division of Facilities at Georgetown University, which he joined in 1990 after serving in the U.S. Army with extensive experience in facilities support and logistics for overseas and U.S. military operations.
He earned his bachelor's degree in administration from Golden Gate University in San Francisco and his master's degree in management from Cardinal Stritch College in Milwaukee.
