A recent gift by Dr. Kenneth P. McConnell to the University of Rochester in memory of his parents, Esther and Arthur McConnell, will fund a new organ concert series at Interfaith Chapel on the River Campus.
Income from the Esther Johana and Arthur Frank McConnell Family Endowment will support a yearly series of free organ concerts open to the public.
The first concert will be performed by Kyoko Kato, an Eastman School of Music student, on Tuesday, Feb. 14 at 8 p.m. Kato will perform works by Bach, Heiller, and Liszt. Jeremy Bruns, a graduate student at Eastman and minister of music at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Pittsford, will perform on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 8 p.m. He will play selections by Franck, Bach, Buxtehude, Persichetti, and Reubke.
The concerts are free and open to the public. Visitors may park free on campus after 7 p.m.
