Sharon Nelson-Le Gall, as part of the Scandling Lecture Series, will give a lecture on "Conceptualizing Risk and Protective Factors for African-American Children's Academic Achievement: Home and School Contexts in Conflict?" at the University of Rochester Wednesday, April 16.
The lecture will take place at 7:30 p.m. in Dewey Hall, Room 2-110D with a reception to follow the lecture. Admission is free and open to the public, but reservations should be made by calling 275-3178.
Nelson-Le Gall is currently professor of psychology and senior scientist in the Learning Research and Development Center at the University of Pittsburgh. She has published widely and with great distinction on the motivation, academic achievement and personal development of minority and "at-risk" students.
The Scandling Lecture Series is hosted by the Margaret Warner Graduate School of Education and Human Development at the University of Rochester. The series brings to campus noted researchers, policymakers, and professional educators from throughout the world to the Rochester area.
