The University of Rochester's Epsilon Rho Chapter of the Kappa Delta Sorority will be hosting the 17th annual Shamrock Project, a national fundraiser for the prevention of child abuse. This year's event is an a cappella concert featuring three University vocal ensembles: the all-male groups the Yellowjackets and the Midnight Ramblers, and the all-female Vocal Point.
With a goal of earning $2,500, the Epsilon Rho Chapter plans on donating 80 percent of the event proceeds to the Mt. Hope Family Center. This center, affiliated with the University's Department of Clinical and Social Sciences in Psychology, offers intervention and conducts research with the goal of preventing mental illness and promoting positive relationships between parents and children. The remainder of the proceeds will be donated to the national organization Prevent Child Abuse America (PCAA) to fund education programs.
The concert will take place at 8 p.m. on Friday, March 18, in Strong Auditorium on the River Campus. Tickets go on sale on Monday, March 13, and cost $5 in advance, or $6 at the door. They can be purchased either on campus at the Common Market in Wilson Commons, or off-campus at Chowhounds Sub Company, 1330 Mt. Hope Ave.; Fraternity Row of Rochester, 1761 Mt. Hope Ave.; and Starbucks Coffee, 1380 Mt. Hope Ave.
