Professor Judith Smetana, of the University of Rochester Warner Graduate School of Education and Human Development, will discuss adolescent-parent relationships in the fourth lecture of the "Rochester Life" Lecture Series Wednesday, March 20.
Smetana, the Frederica Warner Professor of Human Development, will present "Conflict Between Parents and Adolescents" at 7 p.m. in Hoyt Hall on the River Campus. The presentation will be followed by a dessert and coffee reception.
Internationally respected in the field of human development, Smetana's work examines adolescent-parent relations, as well as how children and adolescents construct their moral universes.
Smetana has published widely on topics that relate to how children form ideas about right and wrong and make moral choices. For the last 10 years, she has explored conflicts between adolescents and their parents, and how adolescents develop a sense of autonomy.
This lecture is free and open to the public, and is part of a series sponsored by the University of Rochester Alumni Association. To reserve a space, call the Alumni Association at (585) 273-5894.
