Panelists at Saturday conference explore how teachers can collaborate effectively
A May 1 education conference will explore how partnerships within a community can bring students more benefits than schools can deliver on their own.
Keynote speaker Dennis McGrath, senior associate for assessment at the National Center for Urban Partnerships, will draw examples from 16 urban school collaborations, followed by three panels of local educators commenting on successful partnerships.
The free conference will be held from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 1, at the Dr. Freddie Thomas Learning Center, 625 Scio St. Lunch will be provided. To register, call (585) 275-0048 or e-mail Michelle Erklenz-Watts at milesw.@frontiernet.com by Friday, April 30.
The event, titled "Working and Learning Together: Collaborating for Excellence in Education," is coordinated by David Hursh, associate professor at the University of Rochester's Warner Graduate School of Education and Human Development. Other sponsors are the School of Education at the State University of New York at Geneseo, and Monroe Community College.
