Students on the River Campus will have more late-night entertainment options
thanks to a cooperative effort between students and College staff.
"Fashionably Late" promotes inexpensive or free events, both on and
off campus, that students can take advantage of Friday and Saturday nights.
A cooperative effort of Wilson Commons Student Activities, the Office of the
Dean of Students, and the College, the program is organized by the Student Activities
Office and coordinated with other student groups.
September's "Fashionably Late" schedule of events kicks off with a
show by master magician Peter Cumbo at 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, in the May
Room in Wilson Commons. Snacks and refreshments will be available. Tickets are
$3 and are available at the Common Market in Wilson Commons and at the door.
Students also will be able to catch shows by the Sim Redmond Band and Plastic
Nebraska at Milestones Restaurant and Music Room, 170 East Ave., at 10 p.m.
Saturday, Sept. 13. Buses will start leaving at 9:15 p.m. from Library Road
at the Information Technology Services Center in Rush Rhees Library and will
run continuously until 2 a.m. Admission for the 18-and-over show is $5 and students
must present their UR ID and driver's license at the door.
The next "Fashionably Late" event spotlights folk-pop singer-songwriter
Stolie, who'll be giving a free performance at 11 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, in
the Common Ground Cafe in Wilson Commons.
The schedule features a concert by the pop/rock/folk band Guster at 8 p.m. Saturday,
Sept. 20, in the Alexander Palestra in the Goergen Athletic Center. Tickets
for University of Rochester undergraduate students are $15 for bleacher and
$17 floor and are available at the Common Market in Wilson Commons. Admission
to Guster for the general public is $18 bleacher and $20 floor.
"Fashionably Late" continues at 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, with a "Game
Nite" in The Hive in Wilson Commons that includes a Dance Dance Revolution
tournament, half-price billiards, and arcade specials.
The Filthy Funk Band, a jazz/soul/hip-hop trio, rounds out the month's events
with a free concert at 11 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, in the Common Ground Cafe.
