To help celebrate Women's Awareness Month, Present Tense Dance Company will hold a concert and workshop at the University of Rochester. The events use dance to honor the contributions and struggles of women throughout history. Both programs will take place in Spurrier Gym on the River Campus.

The workshop is at 7:45 p.m. on Monday, March 19. It will be conducted by company director Anne Harris Wilcox and will explore women's issues through movement. This event is free and open to the public.

The concert is at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, and includes eight works that explore women's issues such as violence, motherhood, and community. The pieces featured are "No," with an original score by Alan Terriciano; "For Dizzy Females Who Hate Excellence in Their Kind" and "Schism," both based on poetry by Patricia Wilcox; and "Threshold," with a score by local composer Richard P. Scott. Tickets are available at the door and are $10 general admission and $5 for students.
