Industry experts and a group of local leaders will explore ways for schools to implement technology into more daily classroom activities on Saturday, April 7, at East Rochester High School. The conference, called "Maximizing Technology in Schools," is geared specifically toward school administrators and those responsible for technology applications in elementary and secondary school systems.

Keynote speakers Norm Silverstein, president and chief operating officer of WXXI, and Susan Rogers, executive vice president of WXXI, will discuss developments in digital technology that will make television a more powerful learning tool. The program, which is presented by the Margaret Warner Graduate School of Education and Human Development at the University of Rochester, opens at 8:10 a.m. and concludes at 1 p.m. at the high school on Woodbine Avenue in East Rochester.

Following the opening address, participants can choose small group sessions dealing with a dozen different topics, including how to teach computer programs in schools, enhancing administrative skills through the Internet, defining the impact of distance learning, and creating local and area network partnerships. School technology coordinators, teachers, school library directors, superintendents, BOCES directors, and other knowledgeable professionals will lead the sessions.

The deadline for registration is March 30. The program fee is $55, with discounts available for members of sponsoring groups. For more information, contact the Warner School's Office of Professional Development at (585) 275-7833.
