The University of Rochester's Margaret Warner Graduate School of Education and Human Development is hosting its Fifth Annual Assessment Conference on Saturday, October 7 in Hubbell Auditorium.

This year's conference, entitled "Performance Assessment in the Arts: A Model for all Disciplines," explores better ways to evaluate how students in art programs grades K-12 are doing. In addition, the conference will explore how art can be integrated with other fields such as science or English.

Speakers at the conference include Peter H. L. Hermans, testing specialist, National Institute for Educational Measurement in the Netherlands; and Dennis Palmer Wolf, director, Project PACE at the Harvard University Graduate School of Education.

Participants can attend workshops on portfolio development for Middle School students, on methods for integrating performance and assessment, and on incorporating artistic expression into science assessment.

Registration is required to attend the conference and is due by September 22. The regular rate for the conference is $29, or $23 for full-time students. For further information call (585) 275-8270 or 275-7833.
