The Skalny Lecture and Artist Series at the University of Rochester will present a lecture by Grzegorz Kolodko, deputy prime minister and minister of finance in Poland from 1994-97, on Russia after communism at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, in Lander Auditorium in Hutchison Hall on the University's River Campus.

Kolodko, professor at the Warsaw School of Economics and visiting professor of political science at the University of Rochester, was a key architect of Polish economic reforms. His lecture, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by the Center for Polish and Central European Studies at the University.

His new book, From Shock to Therapy: The Political Economy of Postsocialist Transformation, will be published in 2000 by Oxford University Press. Kolodko also is a consultant for the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.
