Lecturer, storyteller, and poet Bobby Gonzalez will present his slideshow lecture "The Indigenous Heritage of Latin America" at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, in Hubbell Auditorium in Hutchison Hall on the University of Rochester's River Campus.

Gonzalez is a Native American/Latino author who has given presentations at many institutions including Carnegie Hall, the National Museum of the American Indian, and the University of Houston. Gonzalez is the author of a collection of poetry titled Song of the American Holocaust.

His slideshow lecture will examine the art, history, way of life, and outstanding leaders of Native peoples of Central and South America and the Caribbean. He will also discuss current issues that affect indigenous communities that are descendants of the Taino, Maya, Aztec, and Inca.
