The University of Rochester's Gospel Choir will perform 8 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 4, in Strong Auditorium on the River Campus. The choir, conducted by Alvin Parris III, serves as an ambassador of goodwill for the University and community through the music of the black gospel tradition.

Parris, a graduate of the Eastman School of Music, has directed the group since 1976. He has established gospel choirs at local colleges, including Rochester Institute of Technology and St. John Fisher. Parris also serves as a professor in black church studies at the community division of the Colgate-Rochester Divinity School.

Admission is $5 for the general public and $3 for students with identification. Please contact the music department at least five days in advance to request any special accommodations.
