The University of Rochester Jazz Ensemble will present a concert at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, in Strong Auditorium on the River Campus. The performance is free and open to the public.

The program selections include “All of Me,” by Seymour Simon and Gerald Marks, arrangement by Billy Byers; Duke Ellington’s “Concerto for Cootie;” “Us,” composed and arranged by Thad Jones; and “Groove Merchant” by Jerome Richards, arrangement by Thad Jones. In addition, the ensemble’s rhythm section will perform as a small jazz combo in the second half of the program.

Conductors for the jazz ensemble concert are Eric Schmitz and Rodney Lancaster, who are candidates for the degree Doctor of Musical Arts at the Eastman School of Music in the Department of Jazz and Contemporary Media.
