Rain Sadkane will present a multimedia dance performance and lecture titled "Unveiling Myth and Reality" at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, in the dance studio of Spurrier Hall on the University of Rochester's River Campus. The presentation is free and open to the public.

The program will include Middle Eastern and contemporary Western music, video, slides, and Arabic poetry. Discussions before and after the performance will explore Western perceptions and representation of the Near East in art, media, literature, and politics.

Sadkane is an adjunct lecturer in the Department of Dance at SUNY College at Brockport. She received her master of fine arts degree from SUNY Brockport, danced professionally with Randy James Danceworks in New York City, and also has taught at the University of Rochester and Rutgers University. "Unveiling Myth and Reality" is funded by the New York State Legislature, New York State Council on the Arts, and the Arts and Cultural Council for Greater Rochester.
