The International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella regional quarterfinals will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, in Strong Auditorium on the River Campus at the University of Rochester. Tickets to the event are $7 for students and $10 for general admission and can be bought at the door, in advance at the Common Market in Wilson Commons on the River Campus, or at www.sa.rochester.edu/ramblers.

The Midnight Ramblers, an all-male a cappella group at the University, will be hosting the event. Six schools are competing: SUNY Binghamton, SUNY Albany, Drew University, Columbia University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and the University of Rochester, which will be represented by the all-female group Vocal Point. The groups will be judged on music and performance and the top two groups will advance to the semifinals at Cornell University on March 13. The national championships will be held in New York City at the Town Hall Theater on April 25. Each group will also be selling CDs during the quarterfinal competition.

The Midnight Ramblers formed in the spring of 1998. The group currently has 12 members and has performed locally as well as in Syracuse and Binghamton. Future plans include concerts in Ohio, Florida, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Newark, and Hershey. The Ramblers have released four CDs, including their most recent album titled Alternate Route.
