Dancers and teachers Lani Fand Weissbach and Robert Bingham will present an evening of new works at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 17, in Spurrier Dance Studio on the University of Rochester's River Campus.

Titled "See What You Want To See," the program includes the title piece, a duet that addresses themes of loss, betrayal, and the desire to reinvent the past; a solo piece influenced by butoh, which is a contemporary Japanese dance form; and "With," a duet performed to a recording of opera diva Maria Callas. Joining Weissbach and Bingham is D. Chase Angier, director of the dance program at Alfred University.

Rounding out the evening will be a structured improvisation illustrating multiple movement and vocal tasks and a question-and-answer period. Tickets to the program are $7 for the general public and $5 for students and are available at the door.

Weissbach has studied, performed, taught, and created butoh and contemporary modern dance throughout the United States and abroad. She is currently artistic director of Shen and Bones Performance Group based in Erie, Pa., and teaches dance and yoga for Penn State Erie/TheBehrend College and the Erie Arts Museum.

Bingham teaches dance at SUNY Brockport, Alfred University, and the University of Rochester. He is a frequent collaborator with De Facto Dance, an improvisational group based in New York City.
