“BBQ & Blues” will be the theme of the semester’s final “Wilson Commons Wednesdays” from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 21 in the Hirst Lounge.

Lunch, which will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., will feature the winning dish from last month’s recipe contest: barbecue roast pork tenderloin submitted by Nancy Mater of Student Activities. Other menu items include papaya barbecue chicken, barbecue beans, barbecue chicken caesar salad, roasted corn with green chiles, and shoofly pie. In addition to lunch, diners also will be able to buy Abbott’s Frozen Custard for dessert.

Local blues guitarist and vocalist Fred Vine will be performing between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. In addition, restaurants Dinosaur Bar-B-Que and Moonshine Barbeque will offer giveaways and vendors will be selling jewelry and Tastefully Simple gourmet foods.

The celebration of “Wilson Commons Wednesdays” is sponsored by Student Activities and Dining Services as a joint effort to engage the entire University community—faculty and staff as well as students—in enjoying an original and festive atmosphere in Wilson Commons on the River Campus.
