The Capitol Steps will bring their brand of political satire to local audiences in a show at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10, in Strong Auditorium on the University of Rochester’s River Campus.

The troupe, which includes former and current Congressional staffers, takes a humorous look at serious national issues in song parodies and skits. Since their first performance in 1981, the group has recorded 24 albums, including their latest, Papa’s Got a Brand New Baghdad.

Besides being featured on network television shows on ABC, CBS, NBC, and PBS, the Capitol Steps tour the country and perform about 500 shows a year. The group broadcasts its specials, Politics Takes a Holiday, four times a year on National Public Radio.

Admission to the Capitol Steps show at the University is $15 for the general public; $5 for University of Rochester undergraduate students with ID; and $10 for University of Rochester graduate students, faculty, and staff with ID. Tickets are available in advance at the Common Market in Wilson Commons on the River Campus and at the door.

The group’s local appearance is sponsored by the Campus Activities Board and Wilson Commons Student Activities. For more information, contact (585) 275-5911.
