Some of the routes and times for Regional Transportation Authority (RTS) buses serving University of Rochester students, faculty, and staff will be changed beginning Sunday, Aug. 29.

Buses will be identified by both numbers and colors, and eventually by colors only. Some routes on the 70/71, 72, and 73 lines have been adjusted to serve more restaurants, shopping, and entertainment venues in the city and suburbs. The buses continue to be free for passengers with University identification.

Rider comments and student surveys prompted the changes that were designed in cooperation with University Facilities and Services, the office of the College Dean of Students, the Eastman School of Music, and a committee of students and staff from the College.

No. 70 is now the blue line from Rush Rhees Library to Whipple Park with intermittent stops; No. 71 will be the yellow line traveling in the other direction from Whipple Park to Rush Rhees and stopping at River Road, University of Rochester Medical Center, Goler House, and other areas.

No. 72—the red line—will stay the main Eastman School of Music shuttle, but the ride to and from the River Campus has been shortened to less than 20 minutes. It will pass near the Memorial Art Gallery and George Eastman House as well as through the Park Avenue and Monroe Avenue areas with shops, restaurants, and services. Many businesses participating in the RED (Rochester Every Day) discount program geared to students in the College are located on or near those streets.

No. 73, the UR Special, will become the green line, offering service to Marketplace Mall, Greece Ridge Mall, Pittsford Plaza, High Falls, and the Rochester Public Market. These locations will be served one or two days a week.

Maps and schedules are available on the Web at www.rochester.edu/parking, in the lobby at the rear of Rush Rhees Library on the River Campus, and at the new information center on the second level of Wilson Commons.
