Jim Karol, a professional magician who utilizes clever wit and audience participation to showcase mind and memory skills, will be performing at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, in Strong Auditorium on the University of Rochester’s River Campus. He will be joined by Chris Chelko and Michael DuBois in a program of juggling, magic, mental tricks, and sideshow stunts titled “Mind, Magic and Madness.”

The holder of three Guinness world records, including one for throwing a playing card more than 200 feet, Karol has made numerous television appearances on programs such as The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Good Morning America as well as on CNN. A former police officer and steel mill worker, Karol began his magic career at age 29 because of his desire to perform. He has authored the book 50 Ways to Hustle Your Friends as well as two additional books on improving memory skills.

Tickets to Karol’s show are $6 for the general public and $3 for University of Rochester students, faculty, and staff, and are available in advance at the Common Market in Wilson Commons on the River Campus and at the door.
