Alternative rock band Train will perform at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1, in the Alexander Palestra in the Goergen Athletic Center on the University of Rochester’s River Campus.

Train has performed with such popular bands as Blues Traveler, Counting Crows, and Barenaked Ladies. Their second album, Drops of Jupiter, went double platinum with its release in 2001 and their latest album, My Private Nation, released in 2003, reflects a growth in the band and in their perspective on fame and its effects on their music.

My Private Nation is considered to be a shift in focus from Train’s appreciation of their fan base to an understanding of the band’s growth, individually and collectively. As band member Scott Underwood puts it, “Spiritually and culturally we’ve all grown tremendously. We’re very close, we know each other so well, but right now it’s nice to know how to completely live in this world as professional musicians.”

Tickets for the general public are $25 for bleacher seats and $27 for floor seats. Tickets for University of Rochester undergraduates are $18 for bleacher seats and $20 for floor seats. Tickets are on sale at the Common Market in Wilson Commons on River Campus and at Borders Books, Music, and Café, 1000 Hylan Dr., and at the door. For more information, contact (585) 275-5911.
