A University of Rochester blood drive for the American Red Cross will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 11, and Tuesday, Oct. 12, in the May Room of Wilson Commons on the University’s River Campus.

Students, faculty, and staff are invited to participate in the drive, which is organized by the D’Lions, a student service organization that sponsors programs in residence halls and on campus, and by the Office of the Dean of Students in the College.

Appointments are preferred and can be made by contacting Jason Smith in the Dean of Students office at x5-4085 or by visiting http://www.rochester.edu/student-srvcs/DOS/. The goal of the drives this year is to increase participation and surpass the level of donations achieved last year, which stood at 500 units.

Collecting blood is a critical need and usually used for surgery patients. A unit of blood donated by a student, faculty, or staff member could save as many as three lives.

Three additional drives are scheduled for this academic year, including one in December and two next semester. For more information, contact x5-4085 or visit http://www.rochester.edu/student-srvcs/DOS/.
