Joshua Greene, a coach with the Metropolitan Opera in New York City, will present an opera master class at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 13, in lower Strong Auditorium on the University of Rochester’s River Campus. About half a dozen students, including music majors from the College and voice majors from Eastman School of Music, will participate.

The session is open to the general public to attend as part of the audience. A reception following the workshop will be held at the Inter-Campus Music Center located on the Fraternity Quadrangle on the River Campus.

Greene has been a guest conductor at the Sarasota Opera, Augusta Opera, and Westchester Opera. He will be an assistant conductor for Turandot at the Metropolitan Opera this season.

As music director of the New York City Opera National Company, Greene conducted more than 30 performances of La Traviata throughout the United States and Canada. He is also in demand as an accompanist for song recitals, partnering with such noted singers as tenor Jerry Hadley, bass-baritones James Morris and Marc Embree, and mezzo-soprano Jane Bunnell.

Greene’s television and radio credits include appearances on the Art and Entertainment Network’s “Breakfast with the Arts.” As a visiting artist, he has given master classes at the University of Northern Iowa, Grinnell College, and The Mannes College of Music.

The workshop is presented by the Inter-Campus Music Center and co-sponsored by the Department of Music at the College. For more information, contact the music department at (585) 275-2828.
