Peter Hobbs, an artist and a graduate student instructor at the University of Rochester, is exhibiting his work titled "Pleasures of Being a Dog" now through Friday, Dec. 17, in the Hartnett Gallery in Wilson Commons on the University of Rochester's River Campus.
A Canadian native, Hobbs is studying for his doctorate in Visual and Cultural Studies at the University. His installation explores the intersections of nature and sexuality, specifically focusing on the ways in which these topics influence our lives and identities.
The installation includes some of his recent pieces as well as some of his favorite works, which Hobbes created in what he calls his "pleasure palace," a large tent-like structure housing pillows and wooden plaques he has been constructing since 1999.
The hours for the Hartnett Gallery are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free and open to the public.
