Choreographer Lionel Popkin and Agnès Benoit-Nader will present "An Evening of Contemporary Dance" at 7 p.m. Friday, March 25, in Spurrier Dance Studio on the University of Rochester's River Campus.

An independent choreographer and dancer, Popkin has shown his own work in numerous theaters and festivals throughout the United States and Europe. He has danced in a variety of companies, including those of Trisha Brown, Terry Creach, and Stephanie Skura. A certified teacher of Skinner Releasing Technique, a movement style based on relaxation, Popkin has been on the faculty of Bates College, the Laban Centre in London, Sarah Lawrence College, Temple University, and UCLA.

Benoit-Nader is a teacher, choreographer, and improviser. She has presented her own work, performed with different improvisers, and taught in several countries including the United States, France, England, and Belgium. She has been on the faculty of the Program of Movement and Dance at the University of Rochester since fall 2000, teaching courses in contact improvisation, fundamentals of movement, and contemporary dance.

Admission to "An Evening of Contemporary Dance" is $5 for students and $7 for the general public. Tickets are on sale in the Common Market in Wilson Commons on the River Campus. The program is sponsored by the Program of Movement and Dance. For more information, contact (585) 273-5150.
