A University of Rochester blood drive for the American Red Cross will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, in the May Room of Wilson Commons on the University’s River Campus. This is a one-day drive and coincides with a Wilson Commons Wednesday event.

Students, faculty, and staff are invited to participate in the drive, which is organized by the University fraternity and sorority communities and by the Office of the Dean of Students in the College. Appointments are preferred and can be made by contacting Jason Smith in the Dean of Students Office at x5-4085 or by visiting http://www.rochester.edu/student-srvcs/DOS/giveblood/html. The goal of the drives this year is to increase participation and surpass the level of donations achieved last year, which stood at 500 units.

Collecting blood is a critical need in surgery and emergency care. A unit of blood donated by a student, faculty, or staff member could save as many as three lives.
