The University of Rochester’s Grassroots student organization will celebrate Earth Day on Saturday, April 16, and urges the community to begin the day by participating in a “River Cleanup” sponsored by the City of Rochester at 10 a.m. in Genesee Valley Park.

An informational fair will be held at Wilson Commons on the University’s River Campus from noon to 4 p.m. that day, featuring educational tables with environmental information and activities including a scavenger hunt with prizes.

Grassroots is an environmental action and awareness group that was founded in 1997. Its mission is to act on behalf of a sustainable future and to raise awareness of a variety of environmental conservation and ecological issues.

To pre-register for the cleanup, please email mcentee@cityofrochester.gov or call (585) 428-6770.
