The reference and circulation desks at Rush Rhees Library as well as the entrance to the library stacks have been relocated for the summer because of renovations. Patrons who need those services should head to the Great Hall of Rush Rhees one floor above. The main stack entrance will be on Stack Level 200, just off the Great Hall.

During the temporary arrangement, the Great Hall will offer computer stations for the circulation desk and the reference desk, and two computers for patrons. Users can return books to the Great Hall and check out books, pay overdue fines, place materials on reserve, and other services.

For the rest of the summer through Aug. 31, hours at Rush Rhees Library are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday; noon to 5 p.m. Saturday; and closed Sunday, except from noon to 5 p.m. July 17 and 24. It also will be closed Monday, July 4.

Renovations on the first floor will include refinishing the circulation desk, new carpeting and ceiling, new furniture and computers, and the addition of art work. The construction should be completed before classes begin in the fall.

One historical note: The library’s original circulation desk was located in what is now the Great Hall’s comfortable seating, studying, and exhibit area from 1930 to 1968.
