The Conference and Events Office is holding a Vendor Showcase of event-related services and products from noon to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19, in the May Room in Wilson Commons on the River Campus.

This is the third year for the event, which features representatives from area hotels, businesses, attractions, and from the Conference and Events Office. Faculty and staff will have the opportunity to discuss upcoming meetings and events with professional event organizers. Information about on- and off-campus venues for lectures, receptions, or other programs, overnight accommodations, and local sightseeing opportunities will be available. More than 250 people attended last year’s showcase.

The Conference and Events Office, located in Wallis Hall on River Campus, provides professional planning services for internal and external meetings, conferences, and other special events. Services include, but are not limited to, budget development, coordination of space requests, housing needs, transportation, registration coordination, audio-visual, and catering.

Refreshments for this year’s Hawaiian-themed event will be provided by Formula One Catering, Inc. Attendees are encouraged to bring business cards for the prize drawings and giveaways held by many of the exhibitors.

Featured entertainers will be Victoria Kaiulani Visiko, professional dancer and owner of Gallery Kauai Studio, and her husband, Wayne “Kimo” Knox, who is professor and director of the Institute of Optics at the University and a slack key guitarist. They will present traditional Hawaiian music, chants, stories, and hula dancing. Through the Gallery Kauai, a traditional Hawaiian dance school, Visiko has dedicated her life to promoting and perpetuating the authentic culture of Hawaii.
