The University of Rochester community and the public are invited to celebrate the inauguration of Joel Seligman as the 10th president of the University of Rochester at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, at the Eastman Theatre. The ceremony will be marked by welcoming remarks, honorary degree presentations, and an inaugural address by Seligman, who assumed office July 1.

Tickets are not required, but all guests are requested to register online at www.rochester.edu/inauguration/. Before the ceremony, four of the nation's most prominent names in higher education will contribute to a symposium on "Directions in Higher Education for the 21st Century" at 10:30 a.m. in Strong Auditorium on the University of Rochester's River Campus. That event is also free and open to the public with registration requested at www.rochester.edu/inauguration/.

Following the inauguration ceremony, a reception to welcome the new president will be held at the Memorial Art Gallery, 500 University Ave. The public is invited to attend and should register at www.rochester.edu/inauguration/.
