The search is on for teams of competitors and volunteers to take part in this year's College Bowl competition on campus.

Popularized by radio and television broadcasts in the 50s, 60s, and 70s, the College Bowl competition centers around academic trivia questions posed to teams of four students. Topics range from science to culture, literature, and current events. Since its inception, students from more then 300 institutions have enjoyed this fun and exciting learning tradition.

Any students, organized in four-person teams, can compete. Faculty and staff who wish to participate in the competition as officials are also needed.

A double-elimination tournament with preliminary rounds will start on Wednesday, Nov. 9, with final rounds continuing on Thursday, Nov. 10. From these competitors, an All-Star team will be formed to go on to regional competition, scheduled Feb. 25 to 26, 2006, at Marist College in Poughkeepsie. If they qualify, members of the regional team will then attend the national competition, which is being held from April 21 to 23, 2006, at the University of Hartford in Hartford, Conn.

The deadline for student teams to submit completed registration forms and a $10 team registration fee is Monday, Nov. 7. In addition, any interested volunteers should contact Laura Ballou, assistant director of Student Activities, at x5-2332 or laura.ballou@rochester.edu by Wednesday, Nov 2.
