International business expert and strategist David McHardy Reid will discuss China's past 25 years of economic progress and how it may affect the future of global business at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13, in the Welles-Brown Room of Rush Rhees Library on the University of Rochester's River Campus. His talk on China's increasing global presence is part of the Tea Talks series, and is free and open to the public.
Reid, the Benjamin Forman Chair of International Business and director of the Center for International Business at Rochester Institute of Technology, has been researching the strategies of foreign corporations in Asia since 1998. Besides researching and teaching at business schools, he has worked as a consultant to multinational corporations, such as Johnson & Johnson Medical Inc., Visa International, Foote Cone and Belding, and TBWA Chiat Day, among others.
Reid received his doctoral degree from the University of Edinburgh. Prior to joining RIT, he held similar positions at Curtin University, the largest business school in Australia, and at the University of Hong Kong School of Business. His talk is titled "China: Threat, Foe, or Phantom to the U.S. Economy?"
He has published more than 100 papers and books, mainly on international strategies for Asian countries. He also has written for The Economist, The Financial Times, USA Today, and management journals.
