The University of Rochester Symphony Orchestra will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, in Strong Auditorium on the University's River Campus. The concert is free and open to the public.

David Harman, professor of music and director of orchestral activities, will conduct the orchestra in a program featuring Schumann's Concerto for Cello played by Steven Doane, professor of violoncello at Eastman School of Music; Hindemith's Symphonic Metamorphosis; and Wagner's Overture to Rienzi.

The University of Rochester Symphony Orchestra is a combined undergraduate and graduate student and community member ensemble that presents four free concerts every year. This concert concludes and highlights the ensemble's series of 50th anniversary year concerts. The orchestra kicked off the anniversary year with a community performance of Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 and premiered Eastman School of Music Professor of Composition David Liptak's Three Dances for Orchestra, a 20-minute piece commissioned for the 50th anniversary, last month.
