"Science by the Book: From Hippocrates to Darwin"

TIME, DATE, AND PLACE: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday; 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday; and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, now through Feb. 28, 2006, in the Rare Books and Special Collections Library in Rush Rhees Library on the University of Rochester's River Campus.

ADMISSION: Free and open to the public.

"Science by the Book: From Hippocrates to Darwin," an exhibit on the role of the book in spreading scientific knowledge from the 1450s when printing by movable type was invented to 1859 when Charles Darwin published On the Origin of Species by the Means of Natural Selection. A large display of reproductions from 18th-century engravings is included.
