EVENT: University of Rochester Symphony Orchestra performance

TIME, DATE, AND PLACE: 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, in Strong Auditorium on the University of Rochester's River Campus

ADMISSION: Free and open to the public Note: Parking is available on University lots after 7 p.m. weeknights and all weekend.

The University of Rochester Symphony Orchestra continues its 48th season of presenting masterworks of the symphonic repertoire with a performance at 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, in Strong Auditorium on the University of Rochester's River Campus.

This group, directed by David Harman, professor of music and director of orchestral activities, is composed of undergraduate and graduate students as well as talented musicians from the greater Rochester area. The 100-member ensemble will perform Nielsen's Helios Overture, op. 17, Grieg's Peer Gynt: Suite No. 1, and Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade, op. 35.

The symphony orchestra presents four free concerts throughout the school year. The 2002-2003 season will showcase a strong blend of orchestral works as well as contemporary compositions.
