Titled "Voices of Haiti," a panel of students born in Haiti and other contributors will offer multiple aspects about the life and culture of Haiti. The event is sponsored by the Frederick Douglass Institute for African and African-American Studies, the Black Student Union, the Department of English, the Department of History, and the Susan B. Anthony Institute for Gender and Women's Studies at the University of Rochester.
Among the participants will be Cilas Kemedjio, associate professor of French who teaches Francophone African and Caribbean literatures at the University of Rochester, and Millery Polyné, postdoctoral fellow at the Frederick Douglass Institute and a Haitian-American historian. The event is organized by sophomore Christelle Domercant, a native of Haiti who will introduce the panelists.
